In an interview with EW, actress Camilla Luddington, the recent video game voice of Lara Croft, spoke about Alicia Vikander, who has been casted as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider movie reboot.
“I feel like with any Lara Croft, someone is always taking over that role,” Luddington said. “Of course I would’ve loved to do the live-action movie version of it, but she’s Alicia and she’s amazing. So I’m excited to see her interpretation too of the game.”
Lara Croft first appeared on big screen, portrayed by Angelina Jolie, in 2001 and later in 2003. Prior voice actresses include Shelley Blond, Judith Gibbins, Jonell Elliott and Keeley Hawes.
Camilla Luddington said of playing Croft, “I still feel very present within the gaming world, so it doesn’t feel like someone has taken the role from me. I’m excited to see somebody else to step into the boots and what they do for the role. There will always be new Laras.”
Any details on the story plot remain a secret, but the movie will detail on Lara Croft’s first adventure.
