According to Deadline, newcomer actress Daisy Ridley, currently shooting Star Wars: Episode VIII, maybe one of a number of actresses being considered for the Tomb Raider reboot that Warner Bros and MGM are partnering on to produce/release, with GK Films Graham King as a producer.

The story states that: “Conversations have taken place, this is still very early and there have been no official negotiations or offer yet.” The producers are still keeping their options open.

No Actress/Actor has been signed on for the movie at this moment.


Lara Croft first appeared on big screen, portrayed by Angelina Jolie, in 2001 in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, a blockbuster distributed by Paramount Pictures,that grossed $274.7M worldwide. The 2003 follow-up, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, only earned a minor $156.5M for Paramount.

Any details on the story plot remain a secret, but the movie will detail on Lara Croft’s first adventure. Evan Daugherty, Marti Noxon, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby previously have worked on the movie script.

Cassidy Langen is overseeing this movie project for MGM, while Drew Crevello is for Warner Bros. and Denis O’Sullivan for GK Films. MGM will oversee the production of the movie.

  1. Daisy Ridley already plays Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And she’ll be forever associated with that character. Camilla Luddington should be considered instead, since she already voiced and motion captured Lara since 2012. Like Angelina Jolie, there should only be one actress to play the new version of Lara Croft, and that’s Camilla.
